it's not just the light, I know that light is almost everything but after you need a good composition, no one messing around...and other stuff.
it's like architecture, the light is extremely important, but the materials, the scale, the concept behind the photo/building. everything matters.

I repeat, everything matters.

It's a philosophy I completely agree with. Subject is ALWAYS secondary to light, and in at least half the photos I take I wonder if I'm actualll just photography the light, rather than the landscape itself.

The 30 minutes before and after dawn, and the 30 minutes before and after sunset are the only real time to do any landscape photography...that's when the everything is side lit, when the contrast between light and shadows is at it's most seductive.
